The officials have prepared a time schedule to complete the land acquisition formalities within four months.<\/p>\n<p>District Collector K.N. Satheesh said that acquisition of the remaining 70.65 hectares on the 17-km Kottukal-Karode stretch will be completed in 4 months taking into account the urgency. He also said that fixing of land value would be taken up in three weeks, negotiations in one-and-a-half months, and draft declaration would be completed in three months.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Section 3D (declaration of acquisition) and 3H (deposit and payment of amount of compensation) are the formalities pending. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sanctioned Rs. 750-crore for the 4-laning of the 43-km Kazhakuttom-Inchivila NH 47 bypass. The stretch is a part of the <strong>212-km NH 47 bypass from Thuravur<\/strong>, which had commenced in 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 25.26 hectares will have to be additionally acquired on the 22-km Kazhakuttom-Kottukal stretch for the construction of bridges, culverts, and viaducts to facilitate the widening of the two-lane road to four-lane. Construction of four major bridges, including a new bridge at Akkulam, 60 culverts, one rail over-bridge (ROB) at Chakka, and 11 underpasses, are part of the project.<\/p>\n<p>15 years ago a two-lane stretch of 22 km between Kazhakuttom and Kovalam junction was completed. However, work on the bypass had come to a standstill and the 3A notifications issued twice for acquiring the remaining land got lapsed.
