US auto major Ford<\/strong> launched its much-awaited compact sports utility vehicle EcoSport<\/strong> in India with price starting at Rs. 5.59 lakh<\/strong> (ex-showroom Delhi). The compact SUV will take on Mahindra & Mahindra’s Quanto, Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga and Renault Duster<\/p>\n

Ford EcoSport will come in 10 variants with three engine options of 1-litre petrol with Ecoboost technology, 1.5 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engines. The 1.5-litre petrol engine makes 112PS of power and is coupled to a 5-speed manual. The next 1.5-litre common rail diesel develops a max power output of 91PS and a peak torque of 204Nm, and is available in 5-speed manual. Both the engines are available in entry level variant Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium AT\/ Titanium (Option Pack).<\/p>\n

The most talked about engine in the Ford EcoSport lineup is the 1-litre EcoBoost petrol engine<\/strong> Thanks to turbo-charging and direct petrol injection, the EcoBoost\u00a0delivers 125PS of max power and 170Nm of max torque. Ford is positioning the EcoBoost as the flagship and has therefore launched the EcoBoost powered EcoSport only in the top trim levels – Titanium and Titanium option pack. Manual transmissions will be available in both petrol and diesel models, while the automatic gearbox will come only in the petrol variant.<\/p>\n

Ford EcoSport, packs fancy equipment and commendable technology, even the entry-level Ambiente variant offers decent amount of standard equipment including power steering, electric ORVMs with indicators, power windows, theatre dimming interior lights, Bluetooth radio with AUX and USB connectivity, dual tone interiors and remote central locking. The car comes with Ford’s voice-enabled in-car connectivity system Sync<\/strong>, which means you can operate your Bluetooth-enabled phone and USB devices, dial calls, read out text messages and browse and select music tracks via voice commands.<\/p>\n
