The forum named \u2018<strong>Kargil Women Self-Employment Project<\/strong>\u2019, with as many as 300 members, will prepare and distribute the food.<\/p>\n<p>In the first phase <strong>ten units<\/strong> will be started &#8211; at East Fort, University College, Thycaud Railway Station, Museum, Vellayambalam, Vanchiyoor, General Hospital and Medical College. A total of 150 women will manage and run the 10 units. The number will increase with the increase in units. The new initiative aims at giving employment to women from economically weak families.<\/p>\n<p>According to the members, the first day itself witnessed more than 150 customers. A variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes will be served through the 10 units and the items are sold at a much lower price. For example, a Chicken Biriyani costs only Rs50 at these units while it costs around Rs100 in normal hotels. The units will start at 11am and will be opened till noon.
