Technopark is poised to become the biggest IT park in the country and if reports are to be believed, Technopark<\/strong> will also become home to the global software giant Microsoft<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to a top official of the IT department Microsoft is seeking space in the Technopark campus.<\/p>\n

“Preliminary reports suggest that they are serious about taking space at Technopark. Things will become clearer in some days,” the official, who did not wish to be named.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the construction of the Technopark Phase 3<\/a> buildings is nearing completion and will be commissioned soon. Leading IT firms such as HCL, Oracle and CapGemini have already taken space in Technopark Phase-3.<\/p>\n

“We have given nod to 25 IT companies who will use our plug-and-play facility. Each of these firms will have 20-50 employees. We have earmarked 60,000 square feet for them and they will start operations from September 1.” the IT department official added.<\/p>\n

Technopark Phase-3 is spread over 92 acres and consists of two buildings – Aanamudi and Ponmudi<\/strong> – named after famous mountain peaks in the state.\u00a0 Start-up Huts<\/a> which allows the start-ups to work in an eco-friendly environment has been designed to attract young entrepreneurs who are not in a position to make huge investments.<\/p>\n

The one million square feet campus in Phase 3 are \u201cGold Rated\u201d buildings. The buildings have 6 passenger lifts and 2 freight lifts, building management system and all other support facilities required by IT\/ITES Companies. There is also a 110 KV substation which provides quality power through a dedicated ring of underground cables and provides 100% back-up power. It also consists of shopping malls, a commercial complex, a hotel and a convention centre.<\/p>\n

Currently Technopark has 280 companies providing employment to more than 40,000 professionals directly and around 150,000 people indirectly.<\/p>\n

It is reported that Microsoft wants to set up a cloud computing facility with a seating space of about 30. Since the company has no plans to undertake any software export, it need not be allotted space in the special economic zone,.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have received an enquiry from Microsoft and it is only in the preliminary stages,\u201d said a source.<\/p>\n
