Amritavarshini<\/strong>, a charitable organisation that aims at creating awareness and help victims of Bri\u00adttle Bone Disease, organized an exhibition-cum-sale called Vatsalya Varsham 2013 at Kalikotta Palace, Trivandrum<\/strong> on July 3.<\/p>\n

The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Minister Muneer, Actor Suresh Gopi, Ranjini Haridas, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi (Celluloid) and many other celebrities were present at the event. The event also marked the birthday of Playback singer K.S. Chithra<\/strong> and cake was distributed among all those who were present.<\/p>\n

It has members who have proved their inner strength through expression of creative skills such as painting, jewellery making, candle making, umbrella making, paper sketching etc. The organization regularly conduct exhibition of these beautiful pieces of art. More than earning, the appreciation has helped to boost their confidence.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exhibition will showcase ornaments, paintings, bags, umbrellas and other creative crafts made by children affected by the Brittle Bone Disease. It is also a family get-together organised for the children under Amrit\u00adavarshini,\u201d says Latha Nair, Founder and President of Amrithavarshini.<\/p>\n

Brittle Bone Disease or Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a genetic disease that results in weak and brittle bones prone to fracture at the slightest bump. Often such children are bedridden for their entire life as they cannot move without assistance. They also suffer from weak muscular system, bending of the spinal cord and loss of hearing.<\/p>\n

The organization brings out hidden talents of these people and gives regular training, encouraging their creativity, giving them the satisfaction of earning themselves.<\/p>\n
