There was a time when moviegoers only care about the movie they watch and not the comfort of the theatre. Now the time has changed, people expect high quality service for the money they pay. They prefer comfortable cushion seats to the old wooden ones, instead of age-old film presentation system they need the latest projection and sound system technology can offer.<\/p>\n
Sree Padmanabha Theatre<\/a><\/strong> started this new trend by offering multiplex like service to their customers. Soon government owned theatres Kalabhavan<\/a><\/strong> and Kairali<\/a>-Sree-Nila<\/strong> complex followed the lines of Sree Padmanabha. Even though the ticket price is higher in these renovated theatres, they are financially successful. This prompted the private theatres in the city to renovate their theatres.<\/p>\n New Theatre,<\/strong> one of the large capacity theatres in the city will be split into three little theatres. To stay ahead of the race, Sree Padmanabha will again undergo a major makeover. This time the theatre will be split into two while keeping the existing balcony. Below the balcony a theatre with a seating capacity of 250 seats will be built. The Authulya theatre<\/strong> in the SL Complex will also be converted into two theatres with multiplex standard with a seating capacity of 451 and 378 seats. A vegetable restaurant, food court, cafeteria and other facilities are part of the plan. Escalators will also be installed in the complex. The renovation works which will be carried out at a cost of Rs5 Crore will start after Onam. Another theatre that plans to undergo a makeover is the Kripa theatre. All the theatres will be equipped with 2K projector and latest sound system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Theatres are aiming to get maximum collection within the first few days of the release. Currently, large capacity theatre will become houseful only on some rare days. When the capacity is reduced, this problem can be solved.
