Chief Minister OommenChandy has called a meeting on August 2 to discuss the matter with potential stakeholders. If all goes well, Trivandrum International Airport and the surrounding area will be transformed into an <strong>\u2018Airport City<\/strong>\u2018.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal for the Aeropolis project was mooted by Airport Director in February. The state planning board had discussed the proposal and it was decided to conduct a pre-feasibility study.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This welcome move has certainly raised the expectations that the futuristic idea of Trivandrum Aeropolis, with multi modal hub forming part of it, will pave the way for facilitating a paradigm shift in the development concept of the capital city,&#8221; said Airport Director VN Chandran.<\/p>\n<p>Potential stakeholders such as BrahMos aerospace, Airports Authority of India, VSSC, MRO, and Technopark are invited to the meeting on<strong> August 2<\/strong>. These stakeholders can form an essential industrial, commercial and aeronautical support base to the aeropolis project. Meanwhile, the state government has allocated a total fund of Rs 846 crore for 10 major infrastructure projects in the state and five of those projects are in Trivandrum including the <a title=\"Multi-model Transport Hub planned for Trivandrum, Kochi and Kozhikode\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/multi-model-transport-hub-planned-for-trivandrum-kochi-and-kozhikode\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Multi Modal Mobility Hub<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Multi-Modal Mobility hub is an integral part of the Trivandrum Aeropolis as it links the airport with five modes of transport-air, road, rail, inland waterway and sea. Minister V.S Sivakumar said that the irrigation department will prepare a detailed project report on the clean-up of Parvathy Puthanar and the hiccups faced by the <a title=\"Muttathara Sewage treatment plant ready for commissioning\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/muttathara-sewage-treatment-plant-ready-for-commissioning\/\">Muttathara sewage treatment plant<\/a> will be fixed as inland waterway is essential to the multi modal hub.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aeropolis<\/strong> is a new concept in which infrastructure, and economy is centred around an airport, existing as an airport city.\u00a0 The Aeropolis will have facilities such as commercial zones, business zones, entertainment complexes, theme parks, hotels etc. \u00a0India\u2019s first Airport City is coming up at <strong>Andal, West Benga<\/strong>l and if project take off in time, Trivandrum will become the second Aeropolis in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Trivandrum Aeropolis project centred around the Trivandrum International Airport is gathering momentum.
