Google is making another foray into the living room with the announcement of its new media streaming accessory \u2014 Chromecast. Priced at $35, Chromecast is the Google\u2019s answer to Apple\u2019s AirPlay.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So What is Chromecast?<\/h2>\n

Chromecast<\/strong> is a 2-inch dongle that allows users to stream video and audio from a phone or tablet to their TV. It runs on a simplified version of Chrome OS that can be plugged into an HDMI port on flat-panel TVs. Since it connects over HDMI and is powered by USB, it doesn\u2019t have an extra port.<\/p>\n

Just plug it in to your TV and connect to Wi-Fi. Once your Chromecast is set up, you can use your phone, tablet or laptop to browse and cast content to your TV, play and pause, control the volume, and much more. \u00a0But unlike other streaming solutions, Chromecast allows you to multitask. You can send emails or surf the web, while enjoying what\u2019s on the TV screen. It works across platforms\u2014 Android tablets and smartphones, iPhones, iPads, Chrome for Mac and Windows (more to come), so your personal device is also now your remote control.<\/p>\n
