Soon, applicants will be able to apply for passports through their smart phones with the ministry of external Affairs (MEA) making efforts to roll out the service across the country in a few months.<\/p>\n
Considered as a transition from e-Governance to m-Governance, applicants can apply for a passport, pay and book an appointment slot, all on their android-based smart phones. With the ‘mPassport Seva\u2019<\/strong> mobile-app, applicants will be able to pay the passport fee through ‘online payment’ using their debit\/credit cards. Once they fill the applications, all they have to do is go to a nearby Passport Seva Kendram and inform them about the ‘Application Reference Number’ (ARN)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Currently mPassport Seva app provides smart phone and tablet users with a variety of services including passport application status, tracking, locating the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)<\/a><\/strong> and general information on various steps involved in obtaining a passport. In a few months time, the app will be ready with the additional features which will enable people to apply and pay for the passport from their smart phones<\/p>\n The ‘mPassport Seva’ android app is developed by the Ministry of External Affairs<\/strong> and aims at providing all the Passport-related services to the Indian Citizens in a speedy, convenient and transparent manner.<\/p>\n
