{"id":12732,"date":"2013-07-29T13:21:49","date_gmt":"2013-07-29T07:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=12732"},"modified":"2013-07-29T13:21:49","modified_gmt":"2013-07-29T07:51:49","slug":"phase-2-of-capital-region-development-yet-to-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/phase-2-of-capital-region-development-yet-to-start\/","title":{"rendered":"Phase 2 of Capital Region Development yet to start!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The second phase of <strong>Capital Region Development Programme (CRDP)<\/strong> for the sustainable improvement of urban environment of Trivandrum is yet to take off.<\/p>\n<p>High-level team headed by chief minister Oommen Chandy had decided to take up <strong>4 projects<\/strong> of the total 10 under CRDP in 2013-14. The projects include improvement of existing roads, preparation of parking policy and building parking places, construction of ring roads and link roads, environmental improvements of markets, shopping streets and parks and planting more saplings.<\/p>\n<p>However, after the assigning the <strong>Centre for management development (CMD)<\/strong> for selecting a transactional advisor for the projects in January, the committee has not met once. Last date for inviting tender for consultants for transactional advisory service was <strong>May 27<\/strong>. Even after two months, the committee has not even fixed time to meet. A number of projects are frozen at some stages and officials who await approval from the concerned higher authorities don&#8217;t get them on time.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier it was decided to launch second phase of CRDP with the widening of Maruthankuzhi-Nettayam road and improvement of Vattiyoorkavu junction. The work is expected to begin soon. Other projects included under CRDP in the coming years are drinking water facility, coverage of sewerage system, revitalization of heritage commission, highlighting of landmarks and introduction of music and art circuits and improvement of broadband, Wi-Fi connectivity. The plan also includes development of alternative source of energy and to provide underground cabling to minimize energy loss.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the CRDP was launched in 2002 and improvement of 42-km roads under <strong>City road improvement project<\/strong> was one of the major projects under first phase of CRDP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second phase of Capital Region Development Programme (CRDP) for the sustainable improvement of urban environment of Trivandrum is yet to take off.
