The renovation work of the museum complex that started in February is currently under progress and it will be over by the time Onam comes around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Museum Compound, Zoo<\/strong> and <strong>Sree Chitra Art Gallery<\/strong> are the major places where renovation is currently under progress. Currently, gardening works and landscaping of the compound is carried out on a war footing basis.<\/p>\n<p>The lawn at the garden is filled with new soil &amp; grass and around 7 small water streams will be constructed at various parts of the garden. Resting places for the visitors are also constructed around big trees in the compound. The current iron fence around the garden is replaced with natural fence. The renovation work also includes construction of new lighting system and facilities for drinking water.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a title=\"Natural History Museum in Trivandrum Renovated\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/natural-history-museum-in-trivandrum-renovated\/\">Natural History Museum<\/a> <\/strong>located inside the compound is one of the best such Museums in the country. However, visitors coming to the zoo and Napier Museum are not giving much attention to this Museum. Even students and researchers in that field are also not utilizing the museum. To overcome this problem, the authorities have decided to include the Museum in the renovation project. The works are almost over and the construction of dinosaur shaped sign board which welcomes the visitors is also completed. When the museum is opened it is expected to become a crowd puller.<\/p>\n<p>In the zoo, construction of resting sheds for the visitors are in progress, however the re-tarring of the roads is yet to take off and the monsoon is hindering the works. Zoo authorities have also decided to buy two more battery operated vehicles- <a title=\"Trivandrum: Museum gets a 3D theatre and a buggy\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/museum-gets-a-3d-theatre-and-a-buggy\/\"><strong>Buggy<\/strong><\/a>. The buggies that were first introduced in the zoo during March became a huge success among the visitors. This prompted the authorities to buy two more.<\/p>\n<p>The Museum compound, Zoo and the Children\u2019s park are one of the major venues during the Onam celebrations that take place in the city.
