The group aim to repeat the success achieved in <strong>Kochi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The process includes a product mix, which came in ready to us packets was filled in the cleaned potholes and is rammed. The whole process took only about <strong>15 minutes<\/strong> and the traffic was restored shortly.Another advantage is that, the filling up of holes using cold bitumen can be done even during rain. While demonstrating the process at Kochi, it was raining and it hardly affected the work. Plus it saves the operational cost for hot-mix plants, heavy machinery and road rollers. It lasts as long as the tar.<\/p>\n<p>The technology is not new and is widely used in western countries. The method is used in Indian Metros like <strong>Chennai<\/strong>. \u00a0It is even included in the PWD manual.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have tried the product earlier. But it was not much effective then. We will study about the technology and if it can contribute to making the roads pothole-free, we will surely use it.&#8221; said PWD Secretary T.O Sooraj.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shelmac PR<\/strong>, the product used in the repair process costs about Rs875 for 50Kg package. Two packages is enough for an average sized pothole.
