{"id":12998,"date":"2013-08-09T11:16:47","date_gmt":"2013-08-09T05:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=12998"},"modified":"2013-08-10T00:20:22","modified_gmt":"2013-08-09T18:50:22","slug":"visa-on-arrival-service-from-august-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/visa-on-arrival-service-from-august-15\/","title":{"rendered":"Visa-On-Arrival Service at Trivandrum Airport from August 15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kerala will become the gateway to India as <strong>Trivandrum and Cochin Airport<\/strong> will start offering &#8220;<strong><a title=\"Trivandrum Airport to implement Visa-on-arrival (VoA)\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/trivandrum-airport-to-implement-visa-on-arrival-voa\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tourist visa on arriva<\/a><a title=\"Trivandrum Airport to implement Visa-on-arrival (VoA)\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/trivandrum-airport-to-implement-visa-on-arrival-voa\/\" target=\"_blank\">l<\/a><\/strong>&#8221; (T-VoA) service from August 15.<\/p>\n<p>Holidaymakers from <strong>11 countries<\/strong> &#8211; Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, and Indonesia can get T-VoA on landing in Trivandrum and Cochin international airports. Union Home Ministry has issued notification extending T-VoA to Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Bangalore airports in addition to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai airports.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Exclusive desks<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A holding area has been created in the Immigration section. As part of <strong>T-VoA<\/strong>, exclusive visa desks, a place to photograph foreign nationals, foreign exchange counter, telephone connections and signage and display have been put in place by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at <a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/trivandrum-aeropolis-project-gathers-momentum\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trivandrum International Airport<\/a>. Intelligence Bureau (IB) will run the exclusive visa desks.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Validity of 30 days<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A tourist can get a T-VoA with a maximum validity of 30 days. <strong>Bureau of Immigration (BoI)<\/strong> norms say the objectives of the visit should only be recreation, sightseeing, and meeting friends or relatives and \u2018no other purpose or activity will be allowed.\u2019 The applicant should not have a residence or occupation in India and should have a passport with minimum 6 month validity.<\/p>\n<p>Tourist visa on arrival (T-VoA) service was introduced by the Union Ministry of Tourism with an aim to double the number of foreign tourists visiting the country in 3 or 4 years. T-VoA service is expected to boost the tourism sector of Kerala and help stake-holders get tourists round-the-year.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, Kerala registered 7.93 lakh foreign tourist arrivals, earning <strong>Rs.4,548 crore<\/strong> in foreign exchange.
