The LDF\u2019s day and night stir, seeking the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for his alleged involvement in the solar scam has begun at the Capital City at 8 am.CPM general secretary Prakash Karat inaugurated the protest at 10 am. CPI general Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy and Former Prime Minsiter H D Deve\u00a0 Gowda attended the function.<\/p>\n
Party leaders and thousands of activists of the LDF have started pouring to the Secretariat to begin their indefinite day-night strike. While the protesters blocked 3 gates of the secretariat, police managed to keep one gate open, through which Oommen \u00a0Chandy and his cabinet colleagues entered the complex early in the morning.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the police force has made necessary precautions to avoid any sort of tension in the area and the central force took over the protection of the Cantonment gate. A few central forces are kept as reserve. Chief Minister has said that the force would not be used to suppress the agitation if it was carried out peacefully but would be compelled to act sternly if violence erupted.<\/p>\n
The police has also imposed strict traffic restrictions in many parts of the city and the livelihoods of the city residents are disrupted. Many people are unable to commute even for short distances.<\/p>\n
