The online RTI system was launched \u00a0by Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V. Narayanasamy.<\/p>\n<p>With the new web-based platform, citizens will be able to<strong> file Right to Information (RTI) Act applications in all central government ministries and departments located in New Delhi online.<\/strong> The new system provides replies of RTI applications or first appeals online, though replies could also be sent by regular post.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also Read:<\/strong>\u00a0<a title=\"How to apply for passport in Kerala? In the next page, enter your address and contact details and click the submit button.<\/li>\n<li>Login using the Username &amp; Password you provided in the previous step. In the next page enter the Activation Key which will be sent to your email.<\/li>\n<li>Validate the activation key and proceed to your main account page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>So How to file RTI Online?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>After you successfully register yourself on RTI website, click on the Submit Request or Submit First Appeal, whichever your choice is.<\/li>\n<li>Read carefully the guidelines listed in the next page and check the box. Then press the submit button.<\/li>\n<li>Fill up the mandatory columns and enter your query on the text box. One can also use credit or debit cards. You will get an alert on your mobile phone about movement of the applications.<\/p>\n<p>At present, about 82 central government ministries have been covered with this portal and soon all Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) will be covered under it. Centre will urge all state governments to follow this facility.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre&#8217;s flagship Right to Information Act, which was enacted in 2005, mandates timely response within 30 days to citizen requests for government information. There were about 24,000 RTI applications filed in 2005-06 period.
