Kudumbashree, one of the largest women-empowering projects in the country\u00a0\u00a0 has decided to venture into service sector by providing maintenance support to multi-storied apartments and gated communities in the state.<\/p>\n

Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the state- level implementation of the project in October. The pilot project of the programme was launched in Kochi at Asset Portico, a premium townhouse project of Asset Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kudumbasree Mission will offer services in security, care-taking, cleaning, maintenance, garden care and waste management. In addition to this, the unit will also take care of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of facilities such as generators, lifts, swimming pools, sewage treatment plants and health clubs in the apartments they service. Kudumbasree will offer training, reviewing and guiding to women in this sector. Special forums will be formed to check the performance of each woman and redress complaints and advices pointed out by builders or residents’ associations.<\/p>\n

In Trivandrum, the project will be launched with the support of Asset Homes. The builder has requested the service of at least 50 women in day-to-day maintenance of its new project Asset Signature. The project will have 408 apartments in 6 towers.<\/p>\n

The new venture will ensure women engaged in apartment maintenance a minimum earning of Rs 8,000\/month or even Rs 15,000\/month if the services are provided in a professional manner. Kudumbashree Mission plans to extend the services to 500 multi-storeyed buildings in the State in one year that has the potential to generate around 5,000 job opportunities for women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
