Microsoft has launched its 2nd generation Windows 8 tablets – Surface 2<\/strong> and Surface Pro 2<\/strong> at an event in New York.\u00a0surface Pro 2 is a professional model that allows people to use it more like a laptop or a desktop computer.<\/p>\n

Surface 2<\/b><\/h3>\n

Surface 2, offers a better screen and other improvements over last year’s Surface RT. It offers all the entertainment and gaming capabilities along with the ability to get work done.\u00a0 The tablet is slightly thinner and lighter than its predecessor. Surface 2 is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4<\/strong> processor and has a 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD display which can display 1080p video. The device sports 2MB of RAM and will come in 32GB and 64GB internal memory variants.<\/p>\n

Camera resolution has also increased, with a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 3.5-megapixel front camera both capable of capturing 1080p video with improved low-light performance. In terms of connectivity, it uses Wi-Fi 802.11\/a\/b\/g\/n and Bluetooth 4.0. All the other specifications seen in the RT are present in the Surface 2, including an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, digital compass and Cover port.<\/p>\n

Surface Pro 2<\/b><\/h3>\n

Surface Pro 2 runs a full version of the Windows 8 desktop OS, and features a number of hardware upgrades. \u00a0\u00a0It sports a 10.6-inch Full HD 1080p screen and uses a new Intel Core i5 Haswell processor<\/strong>. Microsoft claims that the Pro 2 is 20% faster than the original that there is a 50% increase to graphics performance.<\/p>\n

\"Surface<\/p>\n

Surface Pro 2 will come in 64GB and 128GB configurations with 4GB of RAM. There is also a 256GB and 512GB version with 8GB of RAM. Microsoft says there is a 75% increase in battery life over the previous model.<\/p>\n

The Surface 2 starts at $449<\/strong>, and the Surface Pro 2 at $899<\/strong>. It is available starting on Oct. 22 in the U.S. and other markets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
