{"id":13981,"date":"2013-09-25T15:54:36","date_gmt":"2013-09-25T10:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=13981"},"modified":"2014-10-14T10:23:09","modified_gmt":"2014-10-14T04:53:09","slug":"kerala-gearing-up-for-35th-national-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/kerala-gearing-up-for-35th-national-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Kerala gearing up for 35th National Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>35th National Games<\/strong> will start from February next year and the construction and renovation of <strong>25 stadiums<\/strong> across the state is fast progressing.<\/p>\n<p>According to the progress report released by the <strong>National Games Secretariat<\/strong>, work on eight centres in the state has been completed. The renovation work of the University Stadium has been completed at a cost of Rs 5.25 crore and the installation of the floodlights will begin soon at the stadium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;About 90 per cent of the renovation works of Agricultural College Indoor Stadium, Jimmy George Stadium and Chandrashekharan Nair stadium in Trivandrum also have been completed.&#8221; said a press release issued by Jacob Punoose, chief commissioner and principal co-ordinator of National Games Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>A sum of Rs 2.10 crore was spent for renovating Vellayani Agriculture College ground while in Jimmy George Stadium, renovation works at a cost of Rs 7.26 crore are being carried out. Jimmy George Stadium, renovation works was carried out at a cost of Rs 7.26 crore\u00a0The construction of swimming pool at Pirappancode and work of the tennis complex at Kumarapuram is fast progressing at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore and Rs 1.93 respectively. The work will be completed by October.<\/p>\n<p>Corporation Stadium (Thrissur), Indoor Stadium (Thrissur), Football Stadium (Kozhikode) and Indoor Stadium (Kozhikode) are ready for commissioning. In Kollam, Hockey Stadium with astro-turf facilities at a cost of Rs 5.90 crore is progressing. Kerala State Sports Department is spending Rs 19 crore for the Corporation stadium in Kozhikode which will be opened in December.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/work-on-games-village-at-meenamkulam-to-start-soon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Construction of Games Village at Meenamkulam<\/a>\u00a0was awarded to Acme Cleantech Solutions and the work will soon start. 28 Acres of land has been identified at Menamkulam for Games Village which will come up at a cost of Rs.36.57 crore.\u00a0 Meanwhile work on the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/thiruvanathapuram-all-set-for-its-first-international-stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\">International stadium at Kariavattom <\/a>is fast progressing.
