{"id":14021,"date":"2013-09-27T12:07:24","date_gmt":"2013-09-27T06:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=14021"},"modified":"2013-09-27T12:07:24","modified_gmt":"2013-09-27T06:37:24","slug":"kerala-ranked-the-second-most-advanced-state-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/kerala-ranked-the-second-most-advanced-state-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Kerala ranked the second most advanced state in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The six-member expert committee headed by RBI governor Raghuram Rajan for fixing a new criterion for determining the backwardness of Indian states has submitted their report.<\/p>\n<p>According to the expert committee\u2019s report Kerala ranked the second most advanced states after Goa while Odisha, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh are the least developed states in the country.<\/p>\n<p>On the basis of the report, 28 states will be split into 3 categories &#8211; least developed, less developed and relatively developed &#8211; depending upon their &#8216;Multi Dimensional Index (MDI)&#8217; scores. Based on the MDI scores, the 10 least developed states are Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.<\/p>\n<p>The seven most developed states are Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttrakhand and Haryana.<\/p>\n<p>Multi dimensional index of backwardness is based on per capita consumption, the poverty ratio, and a number of other measures which correspond to the various approaches to assess poverty outlined in the 12th Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The report will form the general method for allocating funds from the Centre to the States based on both State&#8217;s development needs as well as its development performance.
