While the City Corporation is facing the garbage issue, city\u2019s Museum and Zoo department has got a new proposal to treat the waste generated on its premises.<\/p>\n
The new proposal is from a Bangalore-based CEICO Consulting Private Limited<\/strong>, that uses a device called Ecomac<\/strong> which run on Japanese technology. Ecomac can process all kinds of waste including organic, plastics, tyres, medical waste, paper, and even e-waste. Any kind of waste materials is turned into ionic ash without the use of fuel or power.\u00a0 However, it cannot process glass, ceramics and stone.<\/p>\n Ecomac can reduce 1,000 kilograms<\/strong> of municipal solid waste to 20 kilograms<\/strong> of ionic ash. The plant\u2019s capacity ranges between 250 and 3,000 kilograms. Ecomac uses a special magnetic field and oxygen to decompose waste. The device also has smoke and odour suppression equipments which do not require any fuel.<\/p>\n CEICO Consulting Private Limited has been specialising in alternative energy and waste disposal solutions. The company has begun trial runs of Ecomac at an institution near the Bangalore airport. Once it is full-fledged, Museum authorities will send a team of experts to determine its efficiency.<\/p>\n An efficient waste disposal scheme is needed for the Museum compound, which has a high number of visitors even on weekdays. The authorities have to set aside a portion of their income for a third-party to collect their garbage. Currently, the museum doesn\u2019t have any biogas plant or small incinerator to enable self-sufficiency in waste management.<\/p>\n
