With the increase in the usage of helmets, number of accidents with head injury has been considerably declined. The death rate has also been reduced. The always-busy ortho and neuro departments of Medical College Hospital are showing a sign of relief. The <strong>ortho department usually receives more than 50 accident cases at night. But now the number of accident cases has declined.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-14347\" alt=\"rishiraj-singh\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2013\/10\/rishiraj-singh.png\" width=\"215\" height=\"296\" \/>Majority of the accidents are due to &#8216;Driving under the influence&#8217;. Drunken driving accidents are more severe than in other car accidents, since drunk drivers often lose total control of their vehicles, leading to head-on collisions. The survival rates in these accidents are very low. Medical college on any given day receives more than 400 accidents cases, of which 70% constitutes vehicle accidents. In this 70%, more than 80% accidents are due to drunk driving.<\/p>\n<p>Since the MVD is suspending the license of errant drivers rather than imposing a fine, there has been considerable decline in drunk driving. The sales in the bars have also declined. Meanwhile, various call taxi services in the city are getting more than 50 calls at night from drunken people requesting a ride back home.<\/p>\n<p>People who caught driving drunk has to appear before the <a title=\"RTO Trivandrum \u2013 How to Apply for License &amp; Address Details\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/rto-trivandrum-details\/\" target=\"_blank\">RT Office<\/a> and should face the court. License of the repeated offender will be permanently revoked. These people should also attend the awareness camp conducted by the police.
