Trivandrum Corporation has decided to install surveillance cameras to nab those who dump waste on road sides in the city.<\/p>\n
The Health Department have identified 120 spots in the city where garbage dumping is becoming a headache for the residents. The new initiative is launched with the support from Resident Associations and the City Police. The authorities decided to go ahead with the new plan after garbage dumping at these spots have been creating much difficulty for the residents.<\/p>\n
Earlier, authorities have setup cameras on a trial basis at spots where dumping of waste is taking place on a daily basis. The plan proved successful and corporation decided to expand the system to 120<\/strong> other places in the city. Corporation was able to stop garbage dumping in many areas such as Palayam<\/strong> within a day after installation of cameras. Many people have been caught red handed trying to dump garbage and heavy fine has been imposed from these people. \u00a0Already stretch from Valliyasala<\/strong> to Iranimuttom<\/strong> is under the surveillance of CCTV Camera.<\/p>\n The surveillance cameras being installed are similar to those installed by the City Police to monitor the traffic violations. Cost of installation of cameras has come down considerably and this prompted the corporation to come with this idea. Corporation is also trying to find sponsors for the surveillance cameras.<\/p>\n
