Nearly after a year since the renovation project on Museum grounds started, the work is finally nearing completion. The renovated Museum grounds will be inaugurated on November 20.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For months, the lush green lawn has been off limits to the general public for maintenance and landscaping work by Kerala Land Development Corporation Ltd. The grass that covers the gardens is being changed. Korean grass that requires more time and effort to be maintained is being replaced by the more resilient Buffalo grass. The advantage of Buffalo grass is that, it does not need chemicals to keep out pests and it thrives in this climate.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, new fountains are setup along the stairs that leads to Napier Museum. A rock garden is also constructed at the corner of the park near the gate opposite the Corporation office. However, plan to construct a pathway around the area was dropped, following objections raised by environmental activists led by poet B. Sugathakumari in July.<\/p>\n

The authorities will also launch an automated ticket-vending kiosk on the inauguration day<\/strong>. Currently, visitors have to purchase tickets to the Zoo, Sree Chitra Art Gallery, Natural History Museum, and Napier Museum at different counters. With, the easy to use touch-screen kiosks, visitors can select their destination, make payment, and receive a printout of the ticket at the one-stop facility. Kiosks will be set up at both entrances of the Museum grounds.<\/p>\n
