Golf which is supposed to be a game of the affluent will now become accessible to young and upcoming talents from all strata of society.<\/p>\n<p>Sports authority of India (SAI) which is instituting training academies all over India has selected Trivandrum also to set up the academy. The city will be receiving a centre of international standards. SAI has envisaged a development scheme of Rs10 crore for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to set up such an academy was taken by SAI in light of the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 where golf also will be an event to win medals. The youngsters of Trivandrum will get the chance to train under coaches of international repute.<\/p>\n<p>With the coming of SAI, Golf Course which is one of the oldest in India will be getting a new lease of life. With the completion of development it is expected that national level golf tournaments will be held here in future.<\/p>\n<p>For Trivandrumites, these are all welcome news since the Golf Club which was instituted by Colonel Godhavarma Raja has been going through a rough patch for the past several years.
