Used books have a thriving market in the city, since many people especially students can’t afford the high price tag that come along with the books.<\/p>\n

Now, a new book store called \u2018TheOry\u2019, located inside the Saphalyam complex at Palayam<\/strong> offers you a vast collection of pre-owned books for bookworms. Spreading across 1,000 sq.ft of air-conditioned space, TheOry offers you a one of a kind knowledge-sharing experience with its vast library of second-hand books. And the best part of theory is that, the store has an exclusive Wi-Fi enabled readers\u2019 zone.<\/p>\n

Unlike the street book vendors, TheOry will give you a unique reading experience with a pleasant atmosphere and an attractive ambiance. The knowledge store consist of a reading zone, library, readers\u2019 club, Wi-Fi enabled spot called \u2018Sparsham\u2019 for reading via web, coffee table and various health programmes. The members can access the reading zone and can take any book for reference from 9 am to 9 pm.<\/strong> A coffee table is also arranged at the store so that coffee lovers can get the beverage at Rs 10 a cup.<\/p>\n

Theory was launched by a group of 20 people that includes doctors, engineers, retired government employees etc. Initially, the store was launched with an aim to make used academic books available at a subsidised rate for students. \u201cIt later moved on to a larger library that included books from the general category and a variety of activities were also started<\/em>,\u201d said Shaji, a member of the executive committee said to IE.<\/p>\n

Theory also supports \u2018book recycling\u2019, with used books put on sale and the store will charge 20% of the price. The second-hand books bought from the store can be returned after reading too.<\/p>\n

TheOry offers many other facilities like monthly medical check-ups for the members of the book club, financial backing for needy students and various other social responsibility programmes. Last Week, they conducted a \u2018Diabetes walk\u2019 on the World Diabetes Day<\/a>, from Kanakakkunnu to Statue Junction spreading awareness about the disease. The committee has plans to launch a new readers\u2019 club this Saturday, where members can interact with each other by sharing their reading experiences, conducting discussions and share the book they own with other members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
