{"id":15270,"date":"2013-12-12T13:42:52","date_gmt":"2013-12-12T08:12:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=15270"},"modified":"2013-12-12T13:42:52","modified_gmt":"2013-12-12T08:12:52","slug":"kwa-to-setup-drinking-water-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/kwa-to-setup-drinking-water-plant\/","title":{"rendered":"KWA to setup drinking water plant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>#EnteThiruvananthapuram:<\/strong> To provide quality drinking water at an affordable rate to the people, Kerala Water Authority has decided to set up a bottling plant.\u00a0 Kerala cabinet on Wednesday approved in principal the proposal.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/kwa-to-deliver-water-via-net-banking\/\" target=\"_blank\">KWA to deliver water via Net-Banking<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/rs21-crore-drain-canal-at-thampanoor\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rs21 Crore drain canal at Thampanoor<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The bottling plant to be set up by the Kerala Irrigation Infrastructure Development Corporation will be fully under public sector. The plant will come up at Malankara dam site and would have a capacity to produce 9,000 litres of drinking water per hour. Water from the treatment plant will first be subjected to various stages of filtration to remove even the most minute of particles from water. The bottling, labelling and packing of the water will be done using fully automated system.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, it was decided to set up the plant on public\u2013private partnership modal (PPP), but due to protest from the opposition, the plan was abandoned. An amount of Rs 9.86 crore has been earmarked for the bottling plant.<\/p>\n<p>Through the new initiative, bottled drinking water can be supplied at a very low cost. People are now using it commonly but the current market rates of bottled water are very high.
