Unfortunately, the project never took off and the prototype is now rusting.<\/p>\n<p>Automated Multi-level Modular Automobile Parking System (AMMAPS) was developed by Joe\u2019s Safe Parking Private Limited, father-son duo Joy Abraham and Aubin Joe. The facility was inaugurated in March 2012 by the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor.<\/p>\n<p>AMMAPS was designed to accommodate 27 cars at a time. The system was designed in such a way that a moving cradle in which a car is placed. A vertical mechanism raises the automobile and pushes it into the vacant slot and deposits the vehicle there. The automated storage and retrieval of the automobiles within a stipulated time is controlled from a central computer. But the project got stalled days after the inauguration.<\/p>\n<p>Technopark had allotted 5 cents of land on lease for the AMMAPS but it was found not successful after the demo.\u00a0 \u201cWe have already told the company which set up the facility to dismantle it at the earliest,\u201d K G Girish Babu, CEO of Technopark, told \u2018Express\u2019. \u201cWe had encouraged this venture, but they couldn\u2019t succeed in getting the cars parked properly in the slots,\u201d said M Vasudeven, Senior Manager, Business Development, Technopark said to IE.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Joy Abraham said it was unfortunate that their innovation never took off. \u201cThough I got full support from Technopark authorities and the government, there was interference from various sections to get our project shelved.\u201d he said. Joy Abraham said that, he is determined to turn this project into a reality not only in Technopark, but in many other places where acute parking problems exist.<\/p>\n<p>The project was funded by the Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP), where Technopark promotes individual innovators through a support mechanism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>#Technopark: The automated multi-level parking facility launched at Technopark two years ago, was considered as a solution to the parking problem of hundreds of employees.
