{"id":15450,"date":"2013-12-24T11:21:13","date_gmt":"2013-12-24T05:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=15450"},"modified":"2013-12-24T11:21:13","modified_gmt":"2013-12-24T05:51:13","slug":"emerging-product-hubs-trivandrum-and-kochi-holds-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/emerging-product-hubs-trivandrum-and-kochi-holds-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Emerging Product Hubs: Trivandrum and Kochi holds 2 percent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>#EnteThiruvananthapuram:<\/strong> Nasscom, the premier organisation and \u2018voice&#8217; of the Indian IT-BPO industry, released the findings of the <strong>&#8216;Indian Software Products Growth Story&#8217;<\/strong> which outlays the boom of Indian IT sector.<\/p>\n<p>According to the new finding, the Indian companies are now making forays into new geographies and vertical segments.\u00a0 IT industry booms even in the tier 2 and tier 3 cities as a major chunk of the talent that is employed in the IT sector comes from these areas. These segments have untapped potential and companies are fast realizing their importance.<\/p>\n<p>The study shows that, Tier-2 cities like Kolkata, Ahmadabad<strong> Trivandrum and Kochi are fast emerging as product hubs.<\/strong> Trivandrum and Kochi holds 2% share of the \u2018Emerging product hubs\u2019, while Kolkata and Ahmadabad holds 3%. Other Tier 2 and 3 cities hold 8%. Of the total 109 products offered by the Tier 2 cities, the top five products are Enterprise Business Software, Application Development, Enterprise Mobility, Communication &amp; Collaboration and Enterprise Security.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in Tier 1 cities, Bengaluru holds top position with 29% followed by NCR (National Capital Region) with 15% and Mumbai with 12%. Chennai and Hyderabad holds 10% while Pune has 7%. The study also shows that, the number of new product firms setting up each year has increased 3 times in 2013 when compared to 2005. The overall software product revenue in 2013 is 2.2 billion dollar, while it was only 1.3 billion in 2008. Software export accounts for 1.6 billion and revenue from domestic market alone is 0.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>India is witnessing an incredible surge in the number of products start-ups. The country has close to 600 product firms offering nearly 1,300 products.
