TRIDA has reached an in-principle agreement with the society to give an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore as compensation for the building.<\/p>\n<p>With the clearance of the society building and the rehabilitation of traders from the area, works on the Thakarapparambu flyover are expected to resume soon. The piling work of flyover was stalled due to the two-storied building of the cooperative society.<\/p>\n<p>The land where the building functioned did not belong to the Cooperative Society, thus making it ineligible for compensation.\u00a0 However, the Kerala Road Fund Board and TRIDA agreed to pay Rs 1 crore as ex-gratia.<\/p>\n<p>The building will be demolished once the cooperative society shifts. Earlier, TRIDA has made plans for a temporary rehabilitation for nearly 16 traders in the area until they get the land of the Attakulangara Government Central School for the construction of bus stand-cum-shopping complex. Permanent rehabilitation for the traders will also be arranged at the land belonging to Sri Chithra Home.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of Thakarapparambu flyover project, from both the Powerhouse and Thakarapparambu sides, had been hindered for several months due to the rehabilitation problem. Of the total 66 piles, TRDCL, the company in charge of construction has completed 52 piles. The construction of two spans has been completed, while three are halfway through.
