{"id":15661,"date":"2014-01-03T22:16:46","date_gmt":"2014-01-03T16:46:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=15661"},"modified":"2014-01-03T22:16:46","modified_gmt":"2014-01-03T16:46:46","slug":"first-wwf-india-nature-gallery-opens-in-trivandrum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/first-wwf-india-nature-gallery-opens-in-trivandrum\/","title":{"rendered":"First WWF-India Nature Gallery opens in Trivandrum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>#EnteThiruvananthapuram:<\/strong> The World Wide Fund for Nature &#8211; India has setup a nature gallery at its office in Moolavilakom, Trivandrum to showcase the wide range of eco-friendly products manufactured by various non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"Soil Museum in Thiruvananthapuram\" target=\"_blank\">Kerala&#8217;s 1st Soil Museum in Thiruvananthapuram.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The gallery was first started in 2007, but was shut down after three months because of a restriction imposed by the central government that charitable trusts cannot earn profit through exhibitions. After six years, the gallery is reopened for visitors again. While the rule is still does apply, the national office in New Delhi granted special permission to the Kerala Office to reopen the gallery.<\/p>\n<p>The permanent nature gallery features products like coffee mugs, bags, pen stands, mobile holders, lamp shade etc, all made from natural materials like paper, bamboo, cotton, jute and linen. For those serious travellers, there is a collection of backpacks and sleeping bags with WWF Logo &#8211; the Giant Panda. All products are dyed and coloured using natural colours.<\/p>\n<p>Other products include lapel pins in the shape of birds, corporate neck ties marked by tiny pandas &amp; elephants, enamel brooches featuring sixteen Indian birds such as Scarlet Minivet, Green Bee Eater, Pheasant Tailed Jacana and Fire-Tailed Sunbird etc.<\/p>\n<p>It also has desk and wall calendars featuring beautiful natural landscape and wildlife photos, diaries and notebooks. The gallery also has sale of WWF Publications such as &#8216;Marine Turtles along the Indian Cost&#8217;, &#8216;For a living Ganga&#8217;, &#8216;Handbook on Entrepreneurship and How to start eco-friendly small scale business.<\/p>\n<p>The gallery was setup to raise funds for the \u2018Capital for Conservation\u2019 project for environment education, awareness programmes and conservation of specific species and habitats. Purchase of eco-friendly products will contribute to conservation of nature.
