AAP shows how!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>#EnteThiruvananthapuram:<\/strong> As Delhi is going through the worst winter in ten years, the poor and homeless in the national capital are having a hard time surviving the winter. According to the Delhi government reports, there are still at least 4000 people living sans any shelter in the city.<\/p>\n<p>There were reports that, paucity of beds in AIIMS and lack of affordable accommodation facilities have forced many patients and their families to seek refuge in a toilet complex and on pavements near the hospital in this freezing cold.<\/p>\n<p>True to its ideology, Aam Aadmi Party has come up with a novel idea to come to the aid of the common man. They have decided to transform the abandoned buses on the Delhi streets to night shelters for the destitute. These buses will be provided with blankets and other basic amenities so that the homeless can at least sleep properly.<\/p>\n<p>The party said that it was a low-cost but innovate way to provide relief to those who are forced to sleep out in the open in the city&#8217;s bitter cold. Apart from this the government also plans to open a hundred new night shelters across the city over the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever maybe the merits of this innovative solution, this proves that a government can think and act off the beaten path for the benefit of its people.\u00a0 Let\u2019s hope that, our government takes a cue from AAP and start functioning for the common good, even if it has to act unconventionally sometimes.<\/p>\n<p>God forbid, if ever our KSRTC goes dysfunctional, we can always think on the lines of AAP and put those buses to some good use!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>#EnteThiruvananthapuram: As Delhi is going through the worst winter in ten years, the poor and homeless in the national capital are having a hard time surviving the winter.
