After their successful journey in Kappa TV\u2019s Music Mojo, Thaikkudam Bridge is hitting the capital city on 17th for Ascensio hosted by All Saints College. <strong>Ashok Nelson<\/strong>, our Trivandrum connection to the phenomenal band, was born and brought up in Trichur, then did his schooling in Delhi and later Trivandrum, which became an integral part of his life and has developed an invincible bond with this picturesque city. At the age of 4, he started learning Mridangam from Shri Premkumar (Delhi) and later from Suresh Kumar (Trivandrum) under the influence and effervescent support from his father, former Education Minister Shri M.A Baby and mother Smt.Betty Louis. He is an alumnus of KV Pattom and Law Academy, Trivandrum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15954 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/01\/thikkudam-bridge-team.jpg\" alt=\"thikkudam bridge team\" width=\"585\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>The name \u2018Thaikkudam Bridge\u2019!<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThere was one apartment near Thaikkudam Bridge where we started jamming and sharing our common passion . Basically it all started with a friendship, and then it got transformed to brotherhood. Band members from Mumbai found the name interesting and it was Piyush (Vocalist\/Guitarist) who suggested this name. We had this long cherished moment of playing music together.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>From a Lawyer to Musician?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201c<strong>As most of students at that age, I never had any idea what law was and what I had to deal in that course.<\/strong> Being a professional course, and to get a secure job ,I got into to the Law academy . My mom and dad had never compelled me to take up some particular course; it was my decision always .The only conditions they said to me was to be the best in whatever I do and has to complete the course which I am opting for . During law academy days, one of my close friends Murali and I started learning guitar and later it became a life time passion. It was during those times I became a part of a band named \u2018DHUN\u2019. At the age of 18 years, I composed my first ever song for this band.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15949\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-3.jpg\" alt=\"thaikudam bridge 3\" width=\"585\" height=\"434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-3.jpg 585w, https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-3-120x90.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Experience in law academy?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cI was supposedly an introvert till 12th standard. <strong>Years in law academy has augmented a growth in my character and a definite personality make over.<\/strong> Later on I developed myself into a social soul and started assessing characters around. I used to trust people a lot, but experiences have definitely taught me not to. Law academy was an indisputable podium where I learnt the basic art of having a conversation-where to start and where to end one!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Chennai Experience!<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cAfter completing law, I joined for sound engineering course in Chennai where I met Govind, Vipin, Christin, Hemanth and Raj. One of the major turning point in my life was to play strings for renowned music director M Jayachandran Sir. Before meeting him, I had this feeling that I did know music a lot. Working with him taught me of how much I need to learn and the need to educate myself .Biggest lesson I acquired from him is to be bring humbleness in life and to learn music more in a professional approach. I had the opportunity to work for Ouseppachan Sir, Rajamani Sir, Stephen Devassy etc. I\u2019ll cherish the experience throughout my life\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-kappa-tv-.jpg\" alt=\"thaikudam bridge kappa tv\" width=\"585\" height=\"390\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Most influential person?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cNo doubt, <strong>it\u2019s my father<\/strong>. He is my idol and hero. Abiding by the principles and as a teacher, he has always amused me. He has always supported me and my dreams. Support from the parents to pursue your dream is one of the biggest strength in anyone\u2019s career\u201d, adds proudly!<\/p>\n<h3>Maturity Quotient?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u201cI am basically a moody person.<\/strong> I exhibit different extremes of my moods and behaviors. I act too mature for my age at times; but mostly am introvert. I may act philosophical or pretend a \u2018pseudo intellectual\u2019 sometimes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15951\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-ashok.jpg\" alt=\"thaikudam bridge ashok\" width=\"585\" height=\"455\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>If the band gets dissolved?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cYes it\u2019s a reality, it can happen. We have seen so many bands getting dissolved after an initial hype. Every other day talents do rise. Major advantage of our band is that most members are well educated. Of course, <strong>I am not going back to courtroom. Definitely I will be in music field only<\/strong>. Decisions in my life have always been spontaneous, and it will be so!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Constructive criticism?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201c<strong>I do accept constructive criticism<\/strong> if it has a solid base. I would like to listen to the good side, accept it and learn by my mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Politics ?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cDuring my college days, I used to be a part of SFI and has been a part of college union and held positions like Arts Club Secretary and organizing secretary for Samskara etc. \u201cEven if you are not interested in politics, Politics is interested in you\u201d, that\u2019s what my father always says. Everyone who cares about people or society will have politics. <strong>People without politics won\u2019t be able to care others feelings.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15950\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-4.jpg\" alt=\"thaikudam bridge 4\" width=\"585\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-4.jpg 585w, https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge-4-222x148.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Good orator?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201c<strong>I don\u2019t have the confidence of being a good orator.<\/strong> My father has already set a high standard or a bar of being a good orator and naturally people do expect me to be a good orator. Either I have to raise the bar or break it\u201d, he says laughingly.<\/p>\n<h3>Influence of Trivandrum slang?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cNot the slang, but definitely the language has influenced me. When I speak to natives here, they ask me if I am from Thrissur and when I go there the opposite happens!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Old generation or new generation?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201c<strong>I am somewhere in the middle.<\/strong> At times I feel that I should have born 30 years ago, especially while thinking about the literature and music. I do believe that there was a passionate generation of greats.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Criticism over new generation music?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cI think every other generation has so much quality music to offer. Every other generation have the tendency to relate life with music. Young generations do relate well to present day songs. Only thing is that you should have the attitude or mentality to accept every other genre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15953\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/01\/thaikudam-bridge1.jpg\" alt=\"thaikudam bridge\" width=\"585\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Best quality acquired as a Musician?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Patience, maybe<\/strong>! You need to be patient enough to learn. I am very much a lazy person. I do take lot of time learning and educating myself. However, that has definitely helped me a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Fans association?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIf you like something, you need not put a label. You should not get distracted from the core purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Ente City!<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWhen you are in love with someone, you cannot explain \u2018WHY\u2019? Same feelings I have towards this city. Its an apt place to live for a person like me. I love travelling at night. <strong>Trivandrum is a place where I get tea and food at night<\/strong> .I am a greta foodie. I love experimenting different styles which I get in Trivandrum a lot. I love Calcutta, Bombay, Chennai, Delhi, Thrissur etc. However, <strong>Trivandrum has always given me a homely feeling<\/strong>, my \u2018Tharavadu\u2019.
