The construction of the new terminal started in March 2010 with a budget of Rs 55.96 crore. However, various reasons, including the accidental death of a labourer delayed the project.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/7-new-screens-coming-up-in-trivandrum\/\" target=\"_blank\">7 New screens coming up in Trivandrum!<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/aircraft-painting-unit-at-trivandrum\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aircraft painting unit at Trivandrum!<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Main Highlights<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The twelve-storied Central Bus Terminal has a total built-up area of 3.25 lakh square feet. The terminal consist of\u00a0 4 zones- an arrival bus bay zone, a departure bus bay zone, a bus terminal supporting facility zone and a commercial zone. There will be a single entry and single exit system for the buses and the bus bay can accommodate 29 buses at a time. The terminus will also have electronic display boards.<\/p>\n<p>The commercial zone consists of multiplex theatres, food courts and a gymnasium. Facility for a three screen multiplex has been arranged in the third floor. There is also a multi-level parking facility which can accommodate 220 cars and 500 two-wheelers. Other facilities include passenger escalators, four passenger lifts and two freight lifts.<\/p>\n<p>The new terminal will be free from the menace of water logging as the building is constructed in an elevated area of land. Facilities have been arranged for rain water harvesting and waste management.<\/p>\n<p><b>Shopping Mall and Multiplex have to wait!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Trivandrumites will have to wait a little longer for the shopping mall and multiplex.\u00a0Currently, only bus station and the administrative block are operational. Shopping mall and multiplex will take a few more months to be ready.<\/p>\n<p>KTDFC has given 2500 square feet for the construction of multiplex screens. The company who take up this space will have to setup the screens.
