#Technology:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>Samsung has sent out invites for an event called Unpacked 5 on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that should see the launch of the\u00a0Samsung Galaxy S5<\/strong>. The company doesn\u2019t provide any details on what to expect at the event. But Samsung\u2019s use of the number 5 in the press invites suggests that it will indeed feature the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5. At last year’s Unpacked event, which took place in March in New York Samsung unveiled the\u00a0Galaxy S4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rumour round up<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For months the internet has been buzzing with rumours of the new\u00a0Samsung Galaxy S5<\/em>. Here\u2019s what we know so far.<\/p>\n

Design<\/b><\/p>\n

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 is rumoured to be opting for metal body over polycarbonate for the exterior. An earlier leak which showed the metal frame of a phone, suggest that Samsung is shedding its plastic body. Using plastic body for the flagship phones has been the biggest criticism against Samsung for many years.<\/p>\n

Display<\/b><\/p>\n

Rumour has it that Samsung will be equipping the new Galaxy S5 with a 1440p (2560\u00d71440) QHD 2K display. A leaked GFX benchmark listing for a device codenamed SM-G900S reveals the same resolution. The display is also expected to be bigger at 5.25-inches.<\/p>\n

Processor<\/b><\/p>\n

Earlier it was believed that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be powered by a 64-bit processor to compete with Apple. However, the leaked benchmark that pointed to the 2K display also shows a Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.4GHz along with the Adreno 330 GPU.<\/p>\n

Redesigned TouchWiz UI<\/b><\/p>\n

It is expected Galaxy S5 will have a redesigned TouchWiz UI. A leaked shot suggests that Samsung has taken some inspiration from Google Now. The leak shots also shows that the lock screen and home screen widget display contextual cards, depending on notifications and other settings. We can also see horizontal widgets that display contextual information like map routes, time and temperature and redesigned icons for messages and phone.<\/p>\n

Iris scanner<\/b><\/p>\n

Earlier rumours suggested the Samsung is trying to beat Apple by including an \u201cEye-Scanning\u201d unlock capability. Now it is said that Samsung has ditched the eye scanner after several unsuccessful attempts and now the company is going for a finger-print scanner.<\/p>\n

Other features<\/b><\/p>\n

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to come with Android 4.4 KitKat. In terms of memory, the S5 is expected to have 3GB of RAM, going by the\u00a0Galaxy Note 3<\/a>. The phone is also expected get a 16-megapixel camera module with optical image stabilisation.<\/p>\n
