Started as a school band in 2010, \u2018The Dark Prophecy<\/strong>\u2019 band is slowly turning into one of the most popular bands from Trivandrum. It\u2019s the love for music that leads them. Excerpts from the conversation they had with EnteCity<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Revelation<\/h3>\n

The history of this band traces back to 2010. The band was formed during 2010 under the name \u201cSoul Surge\u201d by Akhil CS (Bass Guitraist), Gokul (Lead Guitarist), Arjun Ajith (Drums), Hanees (Keys) along with three vocalists Vishnu Rajeev, Vishnu Dev and Vysakh MK. They started as a cover band mainly featuring the songs of Metallica, Black Sabbath etc. The band was regrouped in 2011 and was renamed as \u2018Frozen Guilt\u2019. That band too got dissolved as many of the members had to leave for studies and other works. In 2012, Vysakh MK, Akhil CS and Vishnu Dev decided to take the band very seriously and renamed it \u2018The Dark Prophecy<\/strong><\/em>\u2019!<\/p>\n

The current band was formed around 8 months ago. As like any bands in Trivandrum, they too wanted to start a Metal band. Bands like Chaos<\/strong> were an inspiration to that. However, bands following metal genre will only stick on to that particular genre. They wanted to try out different genres, but were afraid that how the response would be. Finally they decided to go ahead with creating music of their choice. Dark Prophecy is an experimental rock band which does songs of Punk, Rock, Metal, Soft Rock etc genres.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Members<\/h3>\n

Currently, the band consists of Vysakh MK (Vocalist), Jyothi Krishna (Rhythm Guitar\/Vocalist), Akhil CS (Lead Guitar), Akhil SR (Bass Guitar), Fahad (Keys) and Sidarth (Drums). Everyone hails from Trivandrum and it\u2019s quite interesting that majority of the members are alumnus of Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Kodunganoor. Majority of the band members are computer science students. Vysakh also does the rapping part for the band.<\/p>\n

Own compositions<\/h4>\n

They have 4 original compositions to their kit. \u2018Light\u2019 is one song which is based on Nu Metal genre. Another song \u2018Crazy\u2019 is based on Punk style. The band has also done a song on Metalcore genre. However, their soft rock \u2018All for Peace\u2019 is the most popular song. The song has already gained rave reviews from the audience. It\u2019s ironic that the band whose name denotes a Metalcore one has its most popular song in the soft rock category!<\/p>\n

The Dark Prophecy is entirely a student band. They have competed for many college fests and achieved laurels. They bagged the top honour for Rock competition in recently concluded fest at John Cox. They even performed for \u2018Decibels\u2019 promo which was conducted at Shanghumugham. The city recently witnessed three show from them.<\/p>\n

Support?<\/h4>\n

They feel that the support of people from Trivandrum is quite great. The response they got during \u2018Decibels\u2019 promo was the best example for that. They are quite happy that the song \u2018All for Peace\u2019 is creating tremendous response wherever it is played. However, they say that family support is the main reason for success. As a student band, they face many issues in which economic issue is a great concern. It\u2019s the love for music that is guiding them forward and with such support from family they are sure that final laugh will be theirs.<\/p>\n

Rock Music and Trivandrum!<\/h4>\n

They feel that all the bands have good scope these days. However, it\u2019s your dedication that matters. Many famous bands from Trivandrum got dissolved after getting much hype. They believe that majority of the bands focuses on fame only, music is just secondary. If a band is completely devoted to music, Trivandrum is definitely a best place for them to propser!<\/p>\n

Ente \u2018City\u2019 influence?<\/h4>\n

The support they are getting from this city is their biggest strength. They feel that they are too many platforms here to promote music; it\u2019s that all have to make good use of these. The band says they are happy with the response and support they are getting from the people here.<\/p>\n

Compete for college fests-decibels till quarter final-first prize at john cox-music is life them for them-student band-plans to make it professional-so confident that the band doesn\u2019t gets dissolved-friendship and music will take them ahead<\/p>\n

Future?<\/h4>\n

They plan to complete 2-3 songs more and then release their debut album. And making the band a professional is on the list of their immediate plans too. \u2018Music blended with Friendship\u2019 is their success mantra.
