A recent query from Air India senior officials has encouraged Kudumbasree to consider starting up the in-flight kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Air India has approved the initial project report submitted by the Kudumbasree. A &#8216;detailed project report&#8217; (DPR) on cleanliness, quality standards, packing and distribution of the food would be submitted soon to AI for final approval. The first in-flight kitchen would be opened in Kochi.<\/p>\n<p>Air India has shown interest in collaborating with the Kudumbasree due to the immense demand for South Indian cuisine by the passengers in the gulf sector. A flight kitchen facility will require a minimum investment of 10 crore. Last year, a team of Kudumbashree officials visited some of the flight kitchens for a study.<\/p>\n<p>Kudumbashree is a network of community based poverty reduction programme of the Kerala Government. The programme aims to empower women through community action under the leadership of Local Self Governments. Kudumbashree is successfully running 800 food-related units and 62 Caf\u00e9 Kudumbasree units across the state.
