In many big private hospitals, more than 60 such doctors are practising in every department as junior residents and general practitioner. The reports also say that more than half of such doctors are women. The situation is same elsewhere in the district. Some hospitals prefer doctors with foreign degree as they are ready to work for a lower salary.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Doctors with fake license are practising in various hospitals in the city including luxury hospitals and ordinary clinics.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As per rules, those with foreign degrees are required to undertake a screening test conducted twice by an autonomous body, National Board of Examination. It is only after a candidate qualifies the test that the Medical Council of India issues a registration certificate that is mandatory for medical practice in India. Earlier CBI has launched a nationwide hunt for doctors practicing with fake licences. \u00a0Eight doctors were arrested in connection with fake license.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the poor standard of medical education, India doesn\u2019t recognise degrees from countries like Russia, China, Philippines, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Taiwan etc.\u00a0 India recognises post-graduate medical degrees from only five countries \u2014 Australia, Canada, the UK, the US and New Zealand.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>79% of doctors with foreign degrees failed to qualify the test conducted by the National Board of Examinations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The recent data released by the Medical Council of India shows that 79% of doctors with foreign degrees failed to qualify the test conducted by the National Board of Examinations. In 2011 and 2010, only 26% medical students qualified, while the corresponding figure was only 16.2% in 2009. The data also shows that, in 14,476 students appeared for the test in 2012, only 3,150 passed. In 2011, 13,270 students appeared and 3,576 cleared it. In 2010, 10,115 students appeared for the test and only 2,680 passed. And, in 2009, 6,262 students appeared for the crucial exam and just 1,017 cleared it.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, doctors passing out of most of the private Indian Medical Colleges aren\u2019t any better.
