Every year the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/world-health-day\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">World Health Day<\/a> is celebrated on a particular theme. This year\u2019s theme will be vector-borne diseases.<\/p>\n<p>The event will feature a blood donation camp which will be from 10AM to 1PM. Blood will be collected from the donors by respective blood banks o Medical College, General Hospital and SCTIMST. Dr P V Sulochana, blood transfusion officer of Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) will be conducting an awareness session on vector-borne diseases, dengue and blood donation. Dr Mary Aloysius, chief blood transfusion officer of General Hospital Blood Bank, will talk on the significance of voluntary blood donation. Dr D Meena, HOD of Blood Bank, Alappuzha Medical College will lead a talk on apheresis donation.<\/p>\n<p>Diverse programs and contest online poster contests, quiz programme etc have been arranged to promote the importance of voluntary blood donation. As a part of the promotion, city will also be witnessing a flash mob at prime locations of the city.
