#EnteThiruvananthapuram:<\/strong> <\/em>A charity organization in Trivandrum helped a lonely old man find shelter. During their effort to feed the poor on Vishu day, H.O.P.E<\/a>, a charity organization run by a group of students in Trivandrum, found Sivakumar Swami amidst filth at Thakaraparambu, Trivandrum. Also known as Mani Swami, Sivakumar Swami was once famous for his \u2018Bhaktigaana Sudha\u2019. However, he has now been abandoned by his children and this has made him find shelter near shop premises.<\/p>\n

When H.O.P.E volunteers found the old man, he was covered with his own waste and was too weak to walk. The volunteers cleaned him, helped him wear new clothes and fed him with the food they brought. They tried reaching Mani Swami\u2019s children, but unfortunately they were not ready to accept their father. With the help of the Police, H.O.P.E members took the old man to the 9th<\/sup> ward of General hospital, where old people like him are provided with shelter and medical support.<\/p>\n

This is not a unique case in the state, let alone Trivandrum. People are abandoning their parents to the streets without mercy and the number has been increasing of late. Media has already covered various such incidents, but that has not helped many parents who are unfortunate enough not to have a loving family. However, various charity organizations are coming forward to rescue such ill-fated souls and this is indeed a good sign of a developing society.<\/p>\n
