The 5th season of <strong>National Mango and Honey festival<\/strong> is back to tickle the sweet tooth of Trivandrumites. \u00a0The week-long festival organized by State Horticulture Mission and the Mango Growers\u2019 Association commenced at Kanakakkunnu grounds here on Monday.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nearly 100 tonnes of mango from the south Indian states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are on sale at the fest. This year a total of 140 varieties of mangoes will be on sale, of which 60 varieties were available on the inaugural day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some of the different variety of mangoes include J<strong>ehangir, Salem, Banglora, Desari and common varieties of Varikka, Nambiar, Kaappadi, Neelam, Farankiladuva, Chandrakaran, Kotturkonam, Chakkarakutti, Moovandan \u2018Sindhooram\u2019, \u2018Panchavarnam\u2019 and Kilichundan.<\/strong> And Himampasand, Aralika, Raspuri and Banganapalli are varieties from Karnataka.<\/p>\n<p>The price of the mangoes has been fixed by the government. <strong>The State Horticulture Mission has already taken measures to make sure that chemically-treated, artificially-ripened mangoes are not brought into the state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The exhibition-cum-sale of honey and honey based products are also drawing large crowds. Some of the different varieties of honey include Papaya honey, Amla honey, Pear honey, Pineapple honey, Cashew honey, Dates honey, Badam Honey etc. Honey based products such as Honey jam, Orange honey, Jackfruit honey, Ginger honey, Coorg honey, Lychee honey, Drumstick honey, natural face pack and wax are also on sale at the fest.<\/p>\n<p>The 7 day Mango and Honey festival will come to an end on May 14.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mango lovers rejoice!
