Last year during August, Beverages Corporation opened its first self-service premium liquor outlet in Trivandrum. Now BEVCO has opened another such outlet, this time in Kochi. With the new self-service outlet, tipplers in Kochi no longer have to stand in long queues for their daily quota.<\/p>\n
The new Bevco outlet at Gandhi Nagar near Kadavanthara which spread over an area of 4,000 sq.ft. is built at an investment of about Rs65 lakh.\u00a0 Bevco has transferred the license of a closed down outlet at Palarivattom to set up this massive liquor super market. All premium and fast-moving \u2018Indian Made Foreign Liquor\u2019 brands are available in this premium outlet.<\/p>\n
The premium liquor outlet is intended for those who don\u2019t like waiting in long queues and under the gaze of onlookers to buy their bottles. Here, the shoppers can stroll around to choose and pick their brands without being preyed upon by curious onlookers at the roadside beverage outlets. The staffs are left with the job of collecting the cash and packing the bottles.<\/p>\n
Recently Kerala High Court observed that long queues in front of the Bevco outlets, often cause public nuisance and the consumers at these outlets were treated like cattle. The court suggested that the government should consider appointing a commission for giving the consumers a better treatment.<\/p>\n
The new outlet would be a welcome change for both the consumers and the staff fed up of the poor environment of the existing Bevco outlets. The BEVCO sells around 3,000 liquor brands, barring tequila and breezers that are not permitted in Kerala under the existing liquor policy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
