Now all of this is going to be a thing of the past, with a group of techies from a Kochi based IT company Nextuz Inc coming up with a solution to simplify the procedures of the panchayat offices. Named ‘E-Gram’, the software stores and analyses all the information regarding the people in a panchayat such as a person’s occupation, educational qualification, blood group, phone number etc.<\/p>\n
E-Gram creates real-time analytics on population, literacy rate, male-female ratio, poverty threshold, access to electricity, access to clean water, internet availability, healthcare etc. Death, birth, income and other certificates are made available instantly which is a huge relief to the applicants who approach the office. The system also sends SMS about new schemes and projects to the people and monitor its progress at various stages.<\/p>\n
\u201cE-Gram is a cloud-based platform meant for grama panchayats across the state. It is a comprehensive data analytic tool which stores and analyses all the information regarding the people in a panchayat.\u201d Says Alok Babu, Nextuz CEO.<\/p>\n
E-Gram helps to bring high-level of transparency and accountability in the functioning of panchayats through disclosure of information, social auditing, and improving efficiency in the internal processes.<\/p>\n
As a first step, E-gram is being introduced in the Pampakuda panchayat in Ernakulam district which gives it the honour of being the first digitalised local self body in the sate.
