BMW India has just launched its third generation X5 in the Indian market at a price of Rs70.9 lakh. The SUV will be sold as a 7-seater in India and the addition of the third row of seats will give the X5 an edge to take on the likes of the Mercedes Benz GL-Class and the Audi Q7.<\/p>\n

The new BMW X5 is 5mm wider, 14mm taller and 32mm longer than its predecessor, which makes it slightly more spacious and comfortable than before. Though the newest X5 is a bit larger than its predecessor, BMW have managed to keep the weight to the minimum through its excellent weight control measures.<\/p>\n

In terms of exterior design, the new BMW X5 gets a slew of changes such as larger headlamps, a new grille, new front bumper, a revised rear end and curvier lines. The kidney grille and the headlights are \u2018combined\u2019 with each other, creating the impression of an all-in-one unit. Another noticeable addition is the \u2018air curtains\u2019 which are meant to improve the aerodynamics of the SUV.<\/p>\n

On the inside, the new X5 receives wooden treatment on the dash, gear lever and door pads, along with several new equipments, while the upholstery gets new leather options. The interiors look fresh and yet classy. There is also a10.5 inch iDrive infotainment system with increased resolution. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, quad zone climate control, cruise control, panoramic sun roof and a Harman Kardon audio<\/p>\n

BMW has introduced the new X5 with a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder diesel engine producing 258 BHP of power and 560 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It does 0-100 km\/hr sprint in just 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 230 km\/hr. BMW claims 16.12 km\/l of fuel efficiency. Top speed is an electronically limited 240 Kph.<\/p>\n

BMW X5 comes with many safety features such as ABS, EBD, electronic stability program, hill hold control, hill descent control, cornering brake control and a full complement of driver and passenger airbags for frontal and side protection.<\/p>\n
