{"id":18702,"date":"2014-06-02T11:41:22","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T06:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=18702"},"modified":"2014-06-02T11:41:22","modified_gmt":"2014-06-02T06:11:22","slug":"bombardier-for-trivandrum-monorail-project-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/bombardier-for-trivandrum-monorail-project-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Bombardier for Trivandrum monorail project, Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>#EnteThiruvananthapuram:<\/strong><\/em> The global retender floated for monorail project becomes a waste of time as only one consortium &#8211; Bombardier Transportations expressed interest in the Trivandrum and Kozhikode monorail projects.<\/p>\n<p>According to DMRC, when the bids were opened 4-member consortium &#8211; comprising Bombardier Transportation (Holdings) USA Inc, Bombardier Transportation India Ltd, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd and Shapoorji Pallonji Company Ltd &#8211; was the single bidder for the multi-crore project.<\/p>\n<p>Bombardier Transportations was also the only bidder in the first tender, opened in October. Following this, the state government had asked the DMRC to revise certain clauses. As per the revised norms, the rolling stock manufacturer need only be a technical partner.\u00a0 To save time, pre-qualification bidding was avoided and the DMRC will scrutinise the technical bid to find out where the parameters set had been followed before submitting the report to the KMCL.<\/p>\n<p>The DMRC is expected to submit a report to the Kerala Monorail Corporation Ltd (KMCL) in a week. KMCL will convene a high-level meeting and a final report will be submitted to the state government for the selection of consortium.<\/p>\n<p>Only a few companies in the world had expertise in monorail rolling stock. The officials cite this reason for the single bidding even after retendering.\u00a0 &#8220;The main global players are Bombardier, Scomi and Hitachi. Of these, Hitachi didn&#8217;t express much interest in the project. Scomi had a shortfall in criteria set by the DMRC.
