When fire breaks out, fire-fighters find no source of equipments to control fire which results in loss of lives and valuables.<\/p>\n<p>The Fire Force found massive shortcomings of fire safety equipments and lack of necessary facilities in these theatres. The department conducts yearly inspection on theatres to assess the safety measures taken. A detailed report will be given to the proprietor recommending implementation of safety measures.<\/p>\n<p>All the theatres should follow \u2018National Building Code of India\u2019 (NBC), which deals with fire and life safety. Safety measures such as water sprinkler systems, smoke detection sensors, alarms, emergency lights and emergency doors are a must for every theatre. Apart from these, all theatres should have an overhead tank, a ground tank and a pump system with back generator.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>However many of the theatres doesn\u2019t comply with safety measures outlined by the National Building Code (NBC). The exit doors are too narrow to evacuate all the people in time. Even the absence of basic fire hydrant systems and outdated fire extinguishers is also glaring.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What&#8217;s more interesting is that, some of these theatres have their license expired. Theatres which don&#8217;t even have a proper toilet hiked their ticket prices- all thanks to City Corporation!
