Building upon its wide expertise in the tablet space, Amazon has unveiled its first smartphone, the Fire Phone at a special press event held in Seattle.<\/p>\n
Amazon\u2019s Fire has a black rubber bumper all around the outside and has Gorilla Glass on both the front and the back.\u00a0 The device features aluminium buttons and injected moulded steel connectors for a premium look and feel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
What sets Amazon Fire apart from the rest of the pack is its “Dynamic Perspective” 3D UI that adds the illusion of depth behind the screen, rather than outward causing a glasses-free 3D. Dynamic Perspective uses fours special front cameras on each corner of the phone accompanied by infrared LEDs for the depth perception to work even in pitch darkness.<\/p>\n
Fire sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display with an HD-resolution screen of 720p. The display boasts of 590nots of brightness, making it readable even in hard lighting. It\u2019s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset running at 2.2 GHz with an Adreno 339 graphics processor and 2GB of RAM. The phone is available in storage options of 32GB or 64GB. The Amazon Fire Phone runs Fire OS 3.5, which seems to be the same OS used on the Kindle Fire line of tablets. It’s based on Android but lacks any of the Google’s services.<\/p>\n
The rear camera is a 13MP f\/2.0 unit with a five-element lens, and it comes with optical image stabilization as well as a dedicated hardware button. The camera has the ability to capture 1080p video. Amazon is throwing in free unlimited photo storage in its Cloud Drive. Dual stereo speakers sit on the inside of the device along with the Dolby Digital enhancements.<\/p>\n
Another feature is the \u2018Firefly\u2019, which lets you scan any product, even music and TV shows playing in the background and brings you information on them from Amazon.com. The phone can also send content to another devices, such as Amazon’s Fire TV, and Xbox or a PlayStation.<\/p>\n
Amazon Fire is priced at $649 for 32GB and $749 for 64GB. Pricing and availability for India is yet to be known.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
