With a view to strengthen the security at entry-points of the capital, the rural police have decided to setup electronic watchtower at Kadambattukonam on the Trivandrum-Kollam border. A proposal on this regard has been submitted before the home department. The whole system is expected to cost around Rs 8 lakh.<\/p>\n

Electronic watchtower is a surveillance system equipped with CCTV camera. The system will continuously record the vehicles that pass through the border and store them for 30 days. When the Electronic watchtower is up, the camera will be connected to the control room at Attingal DSP office. The video footage from the camera can be monitored in the watch tower itself. Two cops will man the watchtower.<\/p>\n
The watchtower will also have radar to detect vehicles that violate speed limits.\u00a0The new system will help to track down criminals fleeing from the city.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kadambattukonam is located on the NH between Kallambalam in Trivandrum and Parippally in Kollam. This route is often used by criminals to flee from the city after committing crimes.\u00a0 The new system will help to track down criminals fleeing from the city.
