The 35th edition of the National Games will be held in Kerala from January 31 to February 14 next year in various venues across 7 districts. Kerala is hosting the National Games for the second time after a gap of 28 year.<\/p>\n
The dates for the biggest national sporting event were announced by Indian Olympic Association president N Ramachandran in the presence of Union Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal at a colourful function in the Assembly complex, Trivandrum.<\/p>\n
A total of 11,641 participants, including 7,744 athletes will take part in the 35th National Games. Athletes will compete for 1,200 medals at 26 venues in seven districts in Kerala over a period of 15 days. There will be 365 gold medals, an equal number of silver medals and 477 bronze medals.<\/p>\n
Trivandrum will be the main venue where majority of the games takes place. The opening and closing ceremony will take place at the upcoming Multipurpose International Stadium at Kariavattom.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The construction of the stadium is progressing on full swing. Swimming Pool at Pirappancode, Jimmy George Indoor Stadium, Cycling track at LNCPE are all ready for the National Games.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Shooting Range at Vattiyoorkavu is also progressing fast. Civil works are 72% complete and electrical works are 30% complete. The construction work of the pre-fabricated Games Village units at Menamkulam has already started.\u00a0 A total of 365 pre-fab houses, each with an area of 680Sq.Ft are built using \u201cPrefab Technology\u201d.<\/p>\n
Apart from the capital city, other venues of National Games are in Kollam, Alappuzha, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
