Volkswagen has officially unveiled the 2015 edition of its luxury sedan- Volkswagen Passat B8 at the Volkswagen Design Centre in Potsdam. The eighth generation of the Passat features new design, economical engines and state-of-the-art technologies.<\/p>\n

VW Passat is 85 kg lighter than its predecessor and promises to be 20% more fuel-efficient. 2015 model\u00a0 stands in at 4,767 mm in length, at 1,832 mm in width and 1,456 mm in height, making it 2 mm shorter, 12 mm wider and 6 mm lower than the current version.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On the outside, 2015 Passat gets angular and sharper with clean lines followed throughout the car. The grilles are wider and sports 3 horizontal slats giving a more mature look. All versions of Passat will be getting the LED taillights while the LED headlights, with the Dynamic Light Assist, which can adjust the high beam without disturbing the incoming traffic, are available as an option.<\/p>\n

On the inside, the new 2015 Volkswagen Passat offers more legroom, headroom and shoulder room, for the front passengers and also for the rear ones. The boot capacity has also increased by 21-litres to a total of 586-litres. Volkswagen has made the cabin more upmarket with better quality plastics and upholstery that is visible.<\/p>\n

The new Passat will be available with 10 direct injection turbocharged petrol and diesel engines covering a power range from 118 bhp to 276 bhp.\u00a0 The power is transmitted through a new 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and 4Motion four-wheel drive technology. There is also a 1.4 TSI plug-in hybrid engine (115 kW TSI petrol engine plus 80 kW electric motor and externally chargeable battery) producing 211 HP. The electric motor and the engine will have a combined range of 965 km. All versions are equipped with a stop-start system and a regenerative braking mode.<\/p>\n

On more expensive versions, the analogue instruments have been replaced by the Active Info Display, the 12.3-inch TFT screen from the Audi TT, and the model can get a lot of safety gizmos, such as the City Emergency Braking, the Traffic Jam Assist, the Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, the Trailer Assist, the 360 degree cameras, the Emergency assists and more assists.<\/p>\n
