Once put on a wheel, the clamps are virtually impossible to tamper with. The wheel-clamp can be used to immobilise vehicles, instead of towing them away for violating parking regulations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The traffic police will place a notice on the car which contains the contact number of the officer in charge. The violator will have to call the traffic police officer to unlock the clamp. The offender will then pay the challan and be allowed to take the vehicle. Attempting to remove the wheel lock will result in larger fines and could possibly damage the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The penalty is fixed at Rs 600 a vehicle. Clamps will be used for vehicles parked, in the wrong lane, roadsides, no parking zones, service lanes, on the periphery of parking lots, etc.<\/p>\n<p>The new method was taken as the traffic police was falling short of cranes and many people complained that the process of towing, damage their vehicle. Currently 10 wheel-clamps have been brought from Bangalore at a price of Rs3000 each.
